What Is an Order of Supervision?

An order of supervision is a stipulation that applies to people who are freed from a removal order without paying a bond as they await a court hearing or deportation order. Instead of being held in a detention facility, an order of supervision allows you to work and live your daily life as long as you fulfill your regular check-ins with ICE officials and satisfy certain conditions of your release.

Who Can Be Placed Under an Order of Supervision?

There are several reasons an individual is placed on an order of supervision:

  • You were released for a humanitarian reason
  • Some orders are given to nursing mothers
  • Order can also be given to people who are the only supporters of children who are U.S. citizens.
