The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has just announced that it will conduct a second H-1B registration lottery for the 2025 fiscal year! This development opens up new opportunities for those eager to secure employment through an H-1B visa.
What’s the Buzz?
Back in March, USCIS conducted its initial random selection for the FY 2025 H-1B cap. However, after conducting the initial random selection for the fiscal year 2025 H-1B cap, USCIS determined that additional registrations for unique beneficiaries were needed to reach the FY 2025 regular cap numerical allocation. This means, a second lottery is on its way!
Highlights:
Additional H-1B Lottery Selections: USCIS will randomly select additional H-1B registrations from the pool of previously submitted registrations. This is another shot at your H-1B dreams!
USCIS Notification and Eligibility: Prospective petitioners whose registrations are selected in this second round will be notified that they are eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition. The Selected registrants will see their USCIS online accounts updated with a selection notice, which will include details about the petition filing period. No further action is required from registrants at this time.
Master’s Cap Update: No second selection for the advanced degree exemption (the master’s cap) will occur, as the initial picks have already filled the FY 2025 master’s cap. But don’t worry! Those eligible for the master’s cap will still be included in the running for the regular cap in this second round.
Expected Date: USCIS will soon announce the completion of this second process of selections. Be on the lookout for updates!
This second lottery is a welcome development for many hopeful H-1B applicants. Brown Immigration Law will provide updates as more information becomes available. Good luck!
